The title of my talk: Stress and zinc deficiency-sensitive antidepressant-like effects of NMDA receptor antagonists.
Bio: Bernadeta Szewczyk is the head of the Laboratory of Trace Elements Neurobiology at the Maj Institute of Pharmacology, the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS), Krakow. She received the M.Sc degree in Biology from Higher Pedagogical School in Krakow and a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the Institute of Pharmacology, PAS. After completing Postdoctoral training at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, MS, USA (2005-2007), she returned to the Institute of Pharmacology, PAS, initially as an Assistant and was later elevated to the position of Assistant Professor. In 2017 she obtained a Postdoctoral degree in Medical Sciences (Medical Biology). Her research focuses on the role of the NMDA receptor, serotonergic receptors, as well as zinc deficiency in the pathophysiology and therapy of depression.
